That Was the Year That Was - 2011

2011 was a quiet, but still pretty interesting year. Here is a small summary of what I managed to do:

• Worked on developing measurements and instrumentation for golf players, to allow them to improve their swing, and to compare their technique with other players' in a constructive way. - There is a fair bit of Ada programming behind the scenes in the system I'm working on.
• Co-founded AdaHeads. - A Danish company developing telephone management systems.
• Presented Crimeville - using Ada inside an on-line multi-user game at the annual Ada Europe conference. You can also read my notes from the conference.
• Published a paper on the use of Ada in the on-line game Crimeville in Ada User Journal (vol. 32; no. 3; page 188).
• Got started programming microcontrollers in Ada. - Here's a starting point, if you would like to try it as well.

I also spent a fair bit of time considering how one should model the pricing in the Danish housing market (besides the trivial dependency on loan payments). One dependency I would like to model is demography and family sizes. So far my only conclusion (based on much simpler arguments) is that the market is likely to stay locked up until around 2025.

Right now most of my time is spent on developing software for a high-speed camera, which needs to be synchronised with data from other sources.
